The Privacy Notice

This site is the portfolio and journal of an independent developer — not an advertising operation. It keeps the least it can, uses what it keeps only for the purpose you gave it, and never trades in it. What follows is the complete inventory.

What is kept on file, and when

Nothing is collected by browsing. A record is made only when you hand something over deliberately:

• Letters to the desk (the contact and quotation forms): your name, email address, optional telephone number, the subject and message you write, and any budget or service you select — kept so the enquiry can be answered and the conversation remembered.
• Help-desk tickets: your email address and the contents of the ticket thread, kept for as long as the matter is open and as a service record afterwards.
• Comments on Journal entries: the display name you choose, your email address (never published — it exists so a reply can reach you and so moderation has an anchor), and the comment itself, which is held for review before it appears.
• The Dispatch (the newsletter): your email address alone, used exclusively to send the occasional letter. Unsubscribing removes it from circulation.

What is merely counted

Pages keep an anonymous view count — a simple tally that a page was read one more time. No cookie is set for it, no fingerprint is taken, and the count can never be traced back to a person. It exists so the author knows which entries earn their ink.

What keeps the forms honest

Every public form carries quiet anti-abuse measures: a hidden field that only robots fill in, a check on how quickly the form was completed, and a one-way hash of the submitting network address stored alongside the submission. The hash allows repeated abuse to be throttled; it cannot be reversed into the address itself, and the raw address is not retained.

What never happens

• No advertising networks, pixels, or tracking cookies.
• No third-party analytics suites watching you read.
• No sale, rental, or exchange of anything you submit.
• No profiling — the site does not know who you are unless you sign a letter.

Where it lives, and for how long

Submissions are stored with Supabase, a managed database service, and travel encrypted in transit. Enquiries and tickets are kept as ordinary business records while they remain relevant; newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe; comments remain with their entries. Anything can be removed sooner on request.

Kept on your device

Two small conveniences live in your browser’s local storage and never leave it: your lamp preference (light or dark) and your recent searches in the card catalogue. Clearing your browser storage clears them.

Your record, your say

Write to hello@example.com to see what is held about you, to have it corrected, or to have it erased — the same address handles unsubscribing, though the link in any Dispatch letter does it faster. Requests are answered by the author, not a department.

Revisions

If this notice changes, the date at the top changes with it. No revision will ever quietly grant the site more than this one does.
